New Titans coach Mike Munchak seeks accountability

NASHVILLE — In hardscrabble Scranton, Pa., city fathers long ago honored their local hero-made-good with a street: 63 Munchak Way.
Years later, it is the Mike Munchak way for the Tennessee Titans.
Or it will be the highway.
"I am into accountability — be a pro," the first-year NFL head coach said.
Titans key additions/losses
General manager Mike Reinfeldt used picks No. 8 and 39 to bolster both sides of the ball with Washington QB Jake Locker and UCLA LB Akeem Ayers.

For two games in the spring of 2008, forward P.J. Brown—who came out of retirement to join the Celtics in March—was brilliant. He scored 10 points and grabbed six rebounds to help lead the Celtics to a series-clinching win in the conference finals, and then put forth a strong opener in the NBA Finals to help Boston to a championship. In doing so, Brown helped turned the post-trade deadline free-agent haggling period into serious business.
“He was huge for us that year,” said Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau, an assistant with the Celtics at the time. “He was the ultimate professional

NBA High-5: Would a returning Caron Butler be enough to get Mavericks past Lakers?

9530753-large.jpg

1. Can Dallas really do it? The bottom line after six games against the Blazers for the Mavericks was that they were simply a better team than Portland after their series-clinching 103-96 win at the Rose Garden last night.
Now we ponder this for Dallas: can it really beat the Lakers in the second round? On TNT, Charles Barkley picked the Mavericks to do just that, in six games.
As long as Dirk Nowitzki and Kobe Bryant have been in the NBA, the Mavericks and Lakers have never met in a playoff series in their careers, during which Bryant has

2011 NHL Playoff Predictions: Why Defense and Goaltending Win Championships

109753556_crop_650x440.jpg?1303680172

This season's NHL playoffs have seen some offensive explosions to be sure. But come playoff time, is the offense or the defense/goaltending more important to ensure victory?
This is the age-old question that has raged since sports were invented. Supporters of the offense will tell you that a 1.00 GAA means nothing if your team can’t find the back of the net, but the defense will tell you that a 1-0 victory is as impressive as a 7-4 victory in the playoffs.
Perhaps this is one that is best settled by looking at the traditional measures of excellence that are

Each made a profound impact on his respective hockey club.

For the first time in hockey history, the biggest star player in the playoffs isn't a player, it's an entity known as "The Twins."
Henrik and Daniel Sedin, 30-year-old identical twins from Sweden who play for the Vancouver Canucks, have broken out this season to lead their team to the NHL's best record.
Daniel is first in the league this season in points scored, Henrik is fourth. On Thursday, the twins can advance to the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs with a win over the Chicago Blackhawks.
All season, the twins have dazzled the hockey world by weaving

Attend an NBA game, or simply watch one on TV, and you'll hear music that's become synonymous with sports. Tag Team's "Whoomp! (There It Is)" comes to mind.
Well, now you can add Angry Birds to the list.
We're not sure who started it, but the familiar Angry Birds jingle has become a part of basketball. During a recent Orlando Magic regular season game, the catchy theme played in the background during a timeout.
This isn't the first time video games have invaded the sports world. You'll routinely hear the Super Mario Bros. gold coin sound effect when a player

Donovan McNabb: Why He Is a Perfect QB Fit with the Minnesota Vikings

107341899_crop_650x440.jpg?1303184888

The Minnesota Vikings are interested in trading for 12-year veteran Donovan McNabb, according to a report from the Washington Post. While this may have appeared to be a no-brainer had Brad Childress still been the head coach, it would appear that the organization still thinks very highly of the five-time Pro Bowler.
It may seem surprising to many that the Vikings may even be interested at all in McNabb. Having come off a mediocre, at best, season of 3,377 yards, 14 touchdown passes and 15 interceptions for a 77.1 passer rating, McNabb's glory days seem all but over.
However, it

UConn football: Sprinting to the finish

Every snap and every throw counts in practice. When there’s a quarterback position battle you can’t have a poor day.
McCummings paid the price Tuesday for a couple of plays. The first was an interception thrown down the sideline. McCummings was kicking himself for that one. He missed the safety help over the top.
The second was a tipped ball interception during a goal line package.
Those two turnovers meant McCummings had extra work after practice.
While his teammates ran into the locker room, McCummings and the other quarterbacks had to make up for the mistakes by running 50-yard sprints,

A look at the food chain of the NBA Playoffs

kobe-608.jpg  http://msn.foxsports.com/

he NBA season that starts in the cool, crisp air of autumn and often runs into the first few hot, sultry days of summer is often described as a marathon.
Actually, it's more like a backward triathlon as all 30 teams first trudge across the miles of pavement to the All-Star break, switch over to a post-trade deadline bicycle race for positioning and then ultimately jump into the churning playoff waters and start paddling for their lives.
So here we are at the deep end of the ocean for a look at who really has the capability to sink,
